Child, formerly of Salt Lake City, to the office of Superintendent of Schools for a two-yeterm. Mr. Child will succeed De Von Anderson, who was not a candidate for reappointment. Supt. Child, a graduate of the University of Utah with a B S degree in 1948 and a Masters Degree in 1951, has spent the past six years in Stockton, California. During that time he has been engaged in working toward a Doctorate at .the University of California at Berkeley, and is nearing that degree at the present time. Supt. and Mrs. Child are par-- 1 ents of two children, boys six years, and 15 months of age. Mr, Child fulfilled an LDS mission to British Columbia in 1939. They will make their home in Nephi during this coining week end, and Supt. As individuals our big job is to be more friendly to Mr. and Mrs. Tourist when they are in our community, to instill in them a desire to "stay a little longer in our state to enjoy its varied seen Transportation Award world-famou- Camp Improvements Outlined Plans for construction of a large sheltered serving area, together with stoves and considerable additional parking area, were discussed last Friday at Camp Dadandson by representatives of the Forest Service and several Nephi citizens. The meet was under the auspices of the Nephi Lions Club. Representing the Forest Service were Landscape Architects Robert T. Entwistle of Provo and Ken Shiozawa of Ogden and Ranger Robert Brown of Nephi. The plan Is the outcome of a plan presented to the Forest Service last autumn by the Nephi Lions Club and other organizations. The original plan was completed by Othel L. Pay who headed the committee for the club. Under the proposal, which is the first step toward possible and completaion, the present parking area would be enlarged through the straightening of the barriers, and in addition a new parking area would be provided to the northwest of the preesnt area. Beyond the parking area (proposed) and in a spot about where the present water fountain is located, the new covered area would be constructed. The Softball and play area, under the proposed plans, would be moved to the right some 50 feet, necessitating some leveling in the "center field" area of the field. A capacity amphitheatre is proposed for the slope on the left side of the Dadandsons ara (as one looks up the canyon to the north-wesand this would be provided with a suitable stage. Horseshoe area would be relocated as would restroom facilities.
