Full-tim- e Welcome - EXTENDED BY NEW COLLEGE PRESIDENT Welcome to Westminster as we launch the school year 1963-6It is hoped that it will prove to a fruitful and beneficial experience for you. As the school year begins, I would pose a question, Why are you 'here? Surely, you know the answer. Young people, like you, have known it for years. Although they all dont have the wonderful opportunities that you have, at Westminster, .they have been aware of the fact that going to college offers the fastest and surest way to learn so much in such a short period of time. You will be missing the boat if your primary purpose in going to college is for any reason other .than to further educational developyour ment. However, in addition to the scholastic, cultural, and citizenship training which you will find available, you may also expect to benefit in some or all of the following ways: a. Improving your personality. b. Meeting new friends. c. Gaining experience in getting along with people. d. Participating in college social life. Probably, you are able to give many other equally important reasons for going to college. Do not be hesitant to add, to have fun, to the list. Here, at Westminster, you will be encouraged to enjoy yourself. This is due to our belief that second to hard work, there is nothing that will aid learning more than a smile on your face and a song in your heart. 4. uate of Iowa State Teachers College and has a Diploma in Library Science from the serve September 23, 1963 Ellesworth W.
