Three games on this Friday's schedule will have a major effect on the standings. The three key games will have American Fork at Carbon, Spanish Fork at Pleasant Grove, and Lehi at Payson. All six of those teams are within one game of first place. The other game will have Uintah at Springville. The American Fork Cavemen are presently leading the league 0 with an undefeated record, but not far behind them are the Carbon Dinos who are also undefeated, but have played to a tie in their first league game with 2-- Springville. The two teams just happen to be playing each other Friday night at 7:30 on the Carbon field. Cavemen coach Don Mower has personally seen the Dinos play only during 15 minutes of action at the Football Carnival, but has seen films of the Dinos tie game with Springville. Tough Triple Option "We are going to have a hard time stopping their offense," explained the Caveman coach. "Our offense wasn't too sharp," he explained. "Our kids managed to capitalize on some breaks, so we were able to score some points." Payson should be able to score enough to narrowly defeat the Wildest Stock Car Race CHARLOTTE, N.C. Pioneers. The battle between Uintah and Springville is a duel between the two bottom teams in the Region. Springville owns a victory and a tie, while Uintah has the misfortune of possessing a record that shows only two losses. Devils Look Good While Losing Springville hasn't looked too bad despite not winning. The Red Devils tie came against Carbon, while the loss was by only seven points to Pleasant Grove. The Devils can move the ball. Their offense sharpened considerably in last week's game against the Vikings. The passing game proved quite effective, until the rains began to fall, and the passes began to be dropped. The Utes, as a result of their record must be considered the weak team in the Region at the present. They have scored only six points so far in league play, and have allowed 60 points to be scored against them. Because of this, tha Red Devils should easily gain their first league victory. Last week the Lions fell to American Fork 22-in a game that was a little more than expected. Lehi dropped an unexpected contest to Spanish Fork Lions Pass More Payson has changed offensive tactics a hale this year. The passing game is being stressed more than it has during past years. The change in strategy paid off against Uintah, but it apparently wasn't too successful against American Fork. Lehi's strength is in its solid defensive team. The Pioneers have good size, and are well sant Grove, so Coach Gillespie isn't too concerned about his players being mentally ready for the game.
