Miss Gesspooch named 1981-8- 2 Miss Ute Tribe Doylene Cesspooch, Randlett, was crowned Miss Ute Tribe 1981-8- 2 at last Thursday's pageant in Fort Duchesne. The new Ute royalty is a 1981 graduate of Sherman Indian School at Riverside, Calif. She is the daughter of Annette Pusher and Delmar Judges for the event were Jason e Cuch, Loya Cess pooch, Nancy and Lois LaRose. Paw-winne- For her talent presentation, Doylene performed a traditional dance. Doylene was selected from a field of four candidates vying for the title. Her interests include sports and being with her family and friends. Doylene Named as first runner up was Vallerie Tahguv, daughter of Mr. and Mrs. Allen Tahguv, Ouray. The second runner-u- p honors went to Lolita Ankerpont, daughter of Francis Ank-erpoand the late Emily Ankerpont. Lolita was also named Miss ..Cesspooch, Randlett, was crowned Miss Ute Tribe at last Thursday's pageant in Fort Duchesne. Neighborhood sewing dub Mrs. Donna Buchanan entertained eight members of the Neighborhood Sewing Club at her home Wednesday. The evening was spent in sewing, and exchanging news items. Mr. and Mrs. Val Evans and family, Sandy, spent the weekend with Mr. and Mrs. Lester Bartlett and family. They came to attend the wedding reception of Mr. and Mrs. Rodney Millett. Visiting at the Ernest Ahlborn home this week are Mr. and Mrs. Wales Kibbey, Fresno, Calif., and Lloyd Stevens, Portland, Ore. Mr. and Mrs. Forrest Goodrich were in Idaho Falls this week visiting at the Edna and Clark Jones' home, e Mr. and Mrs. Reid Goodrich have gone back to Black foot, Ida., where he is employed. Edith Goodrich, Bountiful, was a visitor at the Dennis Goodrich home over the weekend. Velma Harvey, Salt Lake, and Areita Anderson, Oak City, spent the weekend with their parents, Mr. and Mrs. John Harvey. The occasion wu their parents' wedding anniversary. Mr. and Mrs. Stewart Sanders, Salt Lake, visited over the weekend with Mr. and Mrs. Errol Merkley. Mr. and Mrs. Ray Haslem and daughters went to Bountiful and Salt Lake over the weekend to attend the wedding of Mr. and Mrs. Mike Angus. The Haslem girls attended "Holiday on Ice" Saturday at the Salt Palace. Karen Perry, Orem; Laura Gray, Springville; and Berniece Cox, Salt Lake, spent the weekend with the Lester Bartlets and Vida McKee. They came to attend the reception for Cathy and Rodney Millett. Annette Wallace is employed at Gibsons Store in Vernal. Peggy Ahlborn is teaching at the new Discovery School in Vernal this year. Jeff Mullen, Seattle, Wash., is helping on the Ron McKee farm. He will be leaving in a short time to fulfill an LDS mission in Chile. U of U doctor awarded grant for lung work Daughters of the Utah Pioneers The first Daughters of Utah Pioneers meeting was held Thursday, Sept. 17, in Duchesne. There were 14 members present. The lesson was given by Mavis Powell on "The Year of 1891. Hostesses were Marie Hatch and Orinda Gee. Roosevelt Camp Daughters of Utah Pioneers, will meet at the home of Verlillian Summeral at 1:30 p.m. Friday. Edith Sharpies will present the lesson and lunch will be served. All members are urged to attend this Sept. 25 meeting. A University of Utah physician will study maturation of infant lungs under a Christmas Seal research grant of the American Lung Association. The announcement was made by R. James Steenblik, president of the Utah Lung Association. Dr. Carl L. Bose is in the Pediatrics Department of the University of Utah Medical Center. The amount of the grant is $14,996. PANTS Dr. Bose's research relates to neonatal respiratory distress syndrome, one of the leading causes of sickness and death in infants born of diabetic mothers. Dr. Bose believes these infants have a immaturity of their lungs. He will search for the defect and its cause.
