Mr. and Mrs. Ken Thomas, of Salt Lake,' visited Mr. and Mrs. Mark Bleazard over the weekend. Harold and John Thompson, of Duchesne, were deer hunting in this vicinity on Sunday. Mrs. Anna Evans, of Mt. Emmons, visited with Mr. and Mrs. Laron Beckstead over the weekend. Mr. and Mrs. Johnny Rowley and son, of Salt Lake, visited Mr. and Mrs. Marion Christensen over the weekend. While they were were here they had their son blessed and given the name of Dennis John. Mr. and Mrs. Wallace Stevenson and children, of Salt Lake, visited with Mr. and Mrs. Calvin Jensen over the weekend. Mrs. Belva Rust, of Rangely, Colo., came Sunday evening to visit Mr. and Mrs. Glen Sorensen. Zane Christensen has made quite a number of trips to Salt Lake this last week. Wayne McDonald was home over the weekend. Dean Anderson made a trip to Ogden for Zane Christensen on Sunday. Mrs. Mae Lindsay and Mrs. lien Rust visited with Mrs. Maude Anderson on Wednesday. Sidney Rust and Pres. William N. Brotherson visited Sacrament meeting here Sunday. Billy Marshall, Val McDonald, Phil Brotherson, Bill Sorensen and Neil Hill made a trip to Salt Lake Sunday to visit Neils parents and also Billy Marshalls parents. Elton Rust sent a load of lambs out Monday morning. The Pep Club of Altamont, had a slumber party Thursday evening. Luella and Roberta Jensen, Ardyce Lee Anderson and Gayle McDonald from here attended. PARTY HONORS D A surprise birthday party was held at the ward hall on Thursday evening in honor of Gilbert Ivie. He was 79 years of age. A lovely program was prepared and a delicious lunch was served to 38 members of' his family, also a number of friends joined in the party. In charge was Mrs. Raleigh Ivie, Mrs. Noma Rowley and Mrs. Glen Ivie. Special Program Mr. and Mrs. A1 Roberts were guests at the home of Mr. and Mrs. Lloyd Roberts during the weekend. Miss Nancy Young and Miss Linette LeFevre were Salt Lake City visitors during the weekend. Mr. and Mrs. Dailey Van Tassell and daughters and Mr. and Mrs. Weldon Van Tassell and family, of Draper, visited in Tabiona during the weekend. Mr. and Mrs. Lloyd Howard and Jerry White, of Salt Lake City, were guests at the Ira Hamilton home during the weekend. Mrs. Thelma Nye and Mrs. Jessie Maxwell visited at the homes of their daughters, Mrs. LaRena Curry and Mrs Frances Mercer, in Salt Lake City during the weekend. Mr. and Mrs. Nephi Chatwin and Wallace Chatwin spent a few days visiting in Salt Lake City. Delmar Nye and son, Ronnie, of Granger, Mr. and Mrs. Bud Nye and family, Buddy Nye of Clearfield, and Mr. and Mrs. Bill Nye of Kearns, visited in Tabiona during the weekend. Mumps are taking their toll in this vicinity and some measles have also been reported. Joseph Thompson now has his wife and new baby at home in Tabiona. Gail Van Tassell has gone to Phoenix, Arizona, where he has employment. His family expects to move to Arizona as soon as Gail secures a place for them to live. School News The senior class presented the assembly program Friday which was greatly enjoyed. A special feature was the singing of a song in Spanish by the senior class. We are still hoping for a different school bus one that will start in the morning and stop when defor Mr. Abplan-alp- . cided to stop PARENTS DAY Principal Don H. Davis announces the school busses will make their regular runs to haul the parents to school on Parents Day, Nov. 11. Supt. Rowan C. Stutz will be present and will show the plans for the new elementary wing on the Tabiona School. The program will be carried out as announced in the paper last week. A lyceum will be presented at Tabiona High entitled, Two Mistakes, on Nov. 18, with parents as well as students invited to attend, according to Principal Davis. It will be presented at 9 a.m. Subscriptions for' the yearbook are being sold this week at Tabiona High School. Mr. and Mrs. Ralph Ivie are rejoicing over the arrival of a baby girl, born at the Roosevelt Hospital, Oct. 22. This litle girl was welcomed by three brothers at home. Mr. and Mrs. Allen ODriscoll and family, of Park City, are living on the Bill Hayes ranch. The ODriscolls have 4 children. Mrs. ODriscoll is the former Miss Wilma Hayes. Roy Eliason, of Salt Lake City, was calling on a few friends on Saturday of this week. Wilbur Bates made a trip to Salt Lake this week on business. He was accompanied by Allen ODriscoll. Murphy, school board member from Altamont. The program was conducted by Theron Leavitt, president of the Board of Education, and special guests were introduced by Supt. Rowan C. Stutz. Allen Bateman, state superintendent of public instruction: Max Abbott, superintendent of Uintah School District: contractor, Ben Turner; Cliff Mickelson, clerk of the Board of Education; Pres. Wm. N. Brotherson, W. J. Bond, of schools; Mayor LaFarge Dastrup, Principal Rondo Harmon and Principal Doyle K. Swallow. Mrs Barbee Buchanan conducted the meeting with the scripture reading being given by Mrs. Rondo Harmon, and the theme by Mrs. Rhea Lambert. The lesson, Satans Sophistry," was presented by Mrs. Miles. Mt. Emmons ward Relief Society conference was held Sunday, Nov. 6, under the direction of President Ruth Dastrup. The prayer was offered by Mrs. Clara Rust, and the financial report was given by Mrs. Dastrup. Fern Powell Peace Bespoke on the subject gins in the Home, after which the ML Emmons Ladies Chorus sang, Oh, Lord Most Merciful. A talk Peace in the World, was given by Edith Case, followed by remarks from Bishop Mecham, advisor to the Relief Society. The Ladies Chorus sang,, Peace I Leave With You," under the direction of Rita Hansen. Mrs. Edith Burton, a member of the stake Relief Society presidency, spoke, representing the stake board. The benediction was offered by Pearl Case. Pres. Burton, of the stake presidency was also present. ATTEND PRICE MEETING Glen Mohlman, chairman of the Moon Lake Division of the Utah National Parks Council, was one of four Scout executives from the Uintah Basin who attended the recent Scout Executive meeting of the Council held in Price. The executives, meeting in the Price Jr. College, discussed ways of increasing the facilities at the Maple Dell Scout Camp, and planned to buy three new boats for use on the lake. Jack Dexter from Vernal, and Elvin Barker and Rowan Stutz of Duchesne, attended the meeting with Mr. Mohlman. PEP CLUB HOLDS SLUMBER PARTY The Pep Club at the Altamont High School held a slumber party Thursday, Nov. 3. A delicious supper was enjoyed by Pep Club members and their guests at 6:30, followed by a program in the gym. Mrs. Eva Bentley played a piano solo, after which President Carolyn Dastrup led the group in repeating the Pledge, and presented the Pep Club membership cards. Mrs. Hutchings gave a talk, A Trip to New York. After donning pajamas,) the girls had a pajama parade, flayed badmitten, had relays. and more refreshments cookies, punch and apples. The group finally bedded down for the night in the high school gym. Friday morning they enjoyed a breakfast of oranges, milk and hot rolls before school. Le-no- re lery. The contest was held in Salt Lake. Grant Hansen, Evan Hansen and Waldo Hansen were in Salt Lake on business for three days last week. HAVE WORK DAY The Relief Society work meeting was held Tuesday, Nov. 8, from 10 a.m. to 4:30 p.m.. Mrs. Pearl Case, Mrs. Lola Evans, Mrs. Zella Bennion, Mrs Clara Rust, Mrs. Etta Smith, Mrs. Rosabelle Ames, Mrs. Ruth Dastrup, Mrs. Ruth Hartman, Mrs. Grace Taylor and Mrs. Elmira Snow spent the day quilting and enjoyed a luncheon together. A Lesson on meal planning was presented also. SATURDAY MEETING The Relief Society wishes to announce that a stake meeting will be held Saturday, Nov. 12, at 2 p.m. at the Mt. Emmons ward house, and extends an invitation to all to attend. There will be a demonstration on candymaking, a discussion on Christmas gifts, an exchange of patterns and leaflets, and a report from the ladies who attended Extension week at Logan. PROTECT GYM FLOOR! The new gym floor in the Altamont High School is being thoughtlessly scarred and scratched up by those wearing steel plates and hobnails on their shoes. Students and patrons should have enough pride in their school to watch and avoid wearing footwear into the gym which will scar and deface the floor and bleachers. NEW FFA MEMBERS INDUCTED INTO UNIT Friday, Nov. 5, new members of the Moon Lake Chapter of F.F.A. came to school wearing the coveralls, straw hats, shoes and boots of the farmer; and each carried a farm tool and a raw egg. The occasion was the initiation of the new members of FFA into the chapter as Greenhands. During the school day they were required to use the tools to clean the grounds around the vocational-agricultur- e department of weeds, etc. for burning.
