Show Bragging Tor New York. New York, 5, The Public, to day, says: During the first five montba of 1S79, tbe exports of domestic products pro-ducts at New York have f Uleu con-iderably con-iderably below those of the corresponding corres-ponding months ol 1S7S, and eome cro.ikers are declaring that the commerce com-merce of the city ie suffering terribly Irnm the rivalry of other parts. OQicial re'.tirus do not sustain these dismal representations. Detailed re portd of foreign commerce for four months of the year show a decrease ia erports at Xew York of $9,708,913 io comparison with the corresponding months of last year, but the decrease in exports from all otber poinis was . $11,933,392, so that this city retained early the Eame proportion of tho ncgregate export trade that it obtained ob-tained last year. Un the other hand it appears that New York haB mo uopolized nearly the entire iDcreaee m imports, being $,60S,913, and at all other parts only $S02,06S. The consequence is this city baa actually gained in tbe amount of foreign commerce, com-merce, whiio all other part have lost and New York baa secured a larcer proportion of tbe entire movement, move-ment, inwaid and outward, than it ecurtd last year. |
