Show Fridav, November 12th. 1926. THE NEFJdl, UTAH TIMES-MJSVV- S, l Join the Red Cross Local Happenings Japan, remembering llie help extended their country by the U. S., at the time of their earthquake disaster and fire, has sent a gift of $43,150 to America to aid Florida hurricane sufferers. A Japanese Ambassador made a personal contribution of $500, immediately after learning of the disaster. Thousand's of letters from boys and girls in the schools of Japan and other nations, and the United States are exchanging hands every year and are creating- a friendly sentiment among the nations of the earth, which will finally cement into a friendship that will ultimately bar cruel wars from the earth forever. Finally we shall emerge from savagery to civilized men and women in all the world, due largely to the education our boys and girls are receiving today. President Coolidfte, who is at the head of the Red Cross in this country, conveyed to Japan the gratitude and appreciation of the American people. Reports have recently come to us that a hurricane has Just swept over Cuba, equal in its destruction to that of Florida. Thousands of Americans are in that land; and immediately the American Red Cross forwarded $100,000 for relief work, and an ad ditional $10,000 to the American Ambassador for American sufferers. Upon receipt of this generous gift, there was quickly flashed over the wii'es, this beautiful sentiment: "We have received your donation of $100, 000 through the American Ambassador. The people of the Cuban Red Cross bless the generous sister society praying that God will protect the bounteous American nation which gave so much to the Cuban Republic." During the year the American National Red Cross expended for men disaster relief, aid to and - other humanitarian services funds totaling $11,892,889.35. The outstanding appropriations were for men the noble wounded and disaster relief. The Armenian earthquake suffer ers, on receipt or $i,U0U trom the Ameircan Red Cross, immediately conveyed their gratitude for the generous gift. The death toll from the earthquake was 350 persons killed, and 400 injured. P. J. Sanders, Secretary Red Cross Chapter, Nephi A BANK Account is the Father of Success, and the Grandfather of Wealth.
