Show j Casting Off the Unfaithful. Excommunication in the Mormon church has commenced, as it seems from the statement of Bishop Warburton, of the First ward, who last Sunday night said that the church would begin to prune off the dead branches from the olive tree of Israel, and there and then ! began work on the initial prunes by severing se-vering the following members: Mrs. Julia A. Adams, Mrs. Mirca Orton, and a Mr. Wilson for apostacy, and Lizzie Lee, step-daughter of A. M. Musser. If the church authorities becomes as assiduous assi-duous in cutting off members that are weak in the faith as the court just now is persistent in confining those that hold fast to the "celestial" covenant, it won't be long before it will be impossible to scare up enough of the "chosen people" to hold a ''testimony meeting" in some of the wards in this part of Zion. Judge Zane has a better audience any day in the week than any of the ward meetings can draw Sundays. |
