Show AN INDUSTRIAL HOME. A movement for the "Erection of a v Heme for Poor and Friendless - . ; "Women. .- At the 5eneral" Yearly Conference of the M. E, Church in Cincinnati last sea-Bon, sea-Bon, Mrs. Cornelia Paddock, of this city, and Mrs. Newman, of Nebraska, were appointed ap-pointed a committee to perfect arrangements arrange-ments for an industrial home to be located in Salt Lake City for friendless women. At the meeting 5,000 was guaranteed for the worthy institution, and through the aid of Mrs. Newman, urhn in an inrlBfaticiihlA j wnrkpr $600 more was added. Mrs. ; Paddock made a canvass among the leading men and women of Salt Lake, after which it ' was thought best to -itiot make ,the cause sectarian, but to incorporate every denomination and non-sectarians who are interested in the good enterprise from a humanitarian standpoint. , All over Utah the matter has been broached, and met . with the heartiest approval from Mormons Mor-mons and Gentiles who see the tnle purposes of the association. i.Grounds have been looked for, and a building build-ing will be erected for '. the - poor . unfortunate,, un-fortunate,, where they can - comeaa" havev a home. The institution ?will be industrial, and if not selt-supporting, a fund will be provided to meet all, requirements. re-quirements. A more commendable undertaking un-dertaking was never conceived o, and the fact of its meeting with the general endorsement of all philanthropic people, assures its success before long. The object of the Association will be stated by the ladies connected With it, and short addresses will b9 made by the pastors of the different churches. The public are cordially invited to be present. |
