Just as a heavy-set, black-mustached and an apparently well-to-do' commercial man stepped out of the Walker House last night, a Democrat reporter happened to catch a glimpse of him, and immediately imme-diately recognized M. B. Leavitt,-' the theatrical manager, whose name, like that of Haverly, is known throughout America, and whose attractions have so frequently visited Salt Lake and given general satisfaction. The reporter immediately saluted him and inquired the cause of his visit to Salt Lake. , ' - "Well, my health is one reason," replied re-plied Mr. Leavitt; "for some time, past I have been troubled with my head slight attacks of vertigo and have just come from the Hot Springs, Arkansas. Too much work will tell, you know; and I have got to have a rest." "You are playing the 'Skating Rink' company?" " "Yes; the 'Skating Rink' is one of my attractions, and has done a good business." busi-ness." Here a messenger boy came up with a handful of telegrams for Leavitt, and, with a hasty adieu, the genial manager sought his room to ascertain how the numerous companies under his direction were prospering in the different sections of the North,-South, East and West. |
