Show DOUGLASS DEATH The Jury Decides That Apoplexy Vas the Cause The wife and son of the late W A Douglass together with Dr Galloway arrived here last night from Leadville and registered at the Walker House After a superficial examination made by Drs Benedict Richards and Gallo way it was decided that the deceased died from apoplexy brought by liquor and the weakening effects of the water One juror Mr King was anxious to have an autopsy but he was finally induced to give way The jury brought in a verdict that W A Douglass came to his death at Becks Hot Springs in Salt Lake county at about 10 p m April 3d 1887 from the effects of natural causes The jurors were Jeter Clinton Augustus King and W J Newman Mrs Douglass was much shaken with the sight of her husbands remains She stayed by the side of the corpse for nearly three hours She remarked that it had been just five weeks ago today since she saw him the picture of health j The body was then embalmed placed in a handsome metalic casket and shipped I to Denver Mrs Douglas and party return re-turn this morning by the U P 1 > > t < > < > H w T 1 > f |
