Show Republican Violence ALBANY N Y April 23The prolonged political struggle between the Democratic Governor and the Republican Senate relating re-lating to tho appointment of a railroad commissioner culminated yesterday in a scene of excitement in the Senate which seems likely to result in the presentation of articles of impeachment against Lieutenant Governor Jones Upon the announcement that Governor Hill was about to send in a message on the subject a Republican member mem-ber moved that the Senate adjourn till Monday In spite of opposition from the Democrats the motion was forced to a vote When the call of the roll was half concluded the Governors private secretary appeared with a message vhioh was passed t T ien tenantGovernor Jones who occupi4 the chair A Republican member took the hoer and insisted on the roll being called for adjournment The chair ruled him out of order and the member denounced tho ruling of the LieutenantGovernor as revolutionary revolution-ary when a great uproar ensued The LiontenantGovernor finally read the message mes-sage himself When the reading was finished fin-ished Mr Vedder said the action of the presiding officer was an outrage and a disgrace dis-grace and it was the duty of the people of the State of New York to impeach him The LientenantGovernor before announcing announ-cing the result of the vote on the motion to adjourn sought to explain his action but tho Republicans refused to hear him and left the chamber |
