Show From the Department ot Agriculture WASHINGTON March 10Tho report of and distribution of the consumption corn and wheat from statistical returns of the Department of Agriculture shows of the last crop of that 37f Per cent corn remains in formers hands against 33 per centthe 1st of March 1884 The supply in farmers hands last 0 March was 512000000 bushels the remainder now is about 075000000 Two years ago the stock remaining at the saino date was 585000000 or 363 per cent of the crop 1617000000 The amount shipped isa few millions a less than last year The exports equal 28000000 bushels against 32000000 at the same date in 1884 and the commercial receipts at western markets arc also less a full Eastern crop reducing slightly the demand notwithstanding the reduction in price The proportion of merchant able corn is very large87 per cent against an average of 80 per cent for a period of years and 60 for last year Wheat reported in Jarmers hands is about 33 per cent of the crop 169000000 bushelsor 50000000 bushels more than the stock of last March when the crop was less by 92000000 bushels There has been a slightly freer nse of wheat for bread and a little of the poorer quality has been fed to stock The stock on March 1 1883 was 285 per cent of the previous crop or 142000000 bushels and that of March 1 1882 was 98000000 bushels The qualtty is reported about average in every Western State except Illinois and Missouri and in nearly all tho Atlantic and Gulf Coast States |
