Show I I VICTORIOUS FAUST He Organizes His Convention Into an Association And Is Elected President of the Body I I When the Horse and Cattle Growers Association went over to the Opera House I I convention yesterday afternoon the members mem-bers of the latter body considered that I they had achieved a great victory that the members of the Association had flocked over to their banners seeking forgiveness for their past transgressions Mr Woolley of the convention moved that the organization of a Territorial Association As-sociation be proceeded with which fired Mr Le Grande YoungSSonl witH indignation indig-nation He was a member of the Horse I and Cattle Growers Association a terri I tonal organization regularly formed and he objected to the mode of proceeding that ignored the existance of that Association Asso-ciation Chairman Hatch was compelled to leave at this point and Mr Tennings I spoke with some fervor The members I t of the Association he said had not come there to be insulted and if the existance of their organization was ignored they would withdraw Mr Jennings grew I rather excited during some portions of I his speech and waved and shook his i cane before the audience in a ery impressive im-pressive manner Doctor Faust took exceptions to Mr I Jennings remarks and declared his intention in-tention to withdraw from the convention 1 lie did not propose to be insulted either I and he wasnt hankering after official distinction He would pay for the Opera House rent and pay for the band and he wished the convention all possible success suc-cess but he would no longer take a part in its deliberations Mr Faust then commenced a search for his hat but before he could find it a motion requesting him to remain was unanimously passed and he concluded to reconsider his determination to withdraw with-draw on the whole he thought he wouldnt withdraw Mr Rydalch arose at this juncture and expressed his firm conviction that a U little misunderstanding seemed to I exist among the members an opinion that two days of wrangling seemed to i justify Mr Ilydalch stated that he and many other cattle men had come here blindfolded and were ignorant of the fact that a difficulty existed between Dr I Faust and Mr Jennings Many members mem-bers had gone home in disgust and he thought they had been imposed on which statement brought Mr Faust to his feet again and thus the performance I went on A vote on Mr Woolleys motion to organize or-ganize an Association was finally secured and the motion carried Mr Jennings was then elected president presi-dent of all the combined and consolidated cattle associations and an adjournment to the City Hall at 700 was taken At the evening session nothing whatever what-ever was done except the reading of the band to play Yankee Doodle Committees were then appointed on legislation refrigeration etc A commit tee was also appointed to petition various agricultural associations tocooperate in holding a Territorial fair in this city next fallAn An expression of sentiment was then called for on what attitude the Association Associa-tion should take towards the sheep men and the prevailing opinion seemed to be that an effort should be made to harmon ize the cattle and sheep interests The Association then adjourned to meet in this city on the first of next October The band marched to Jennings corner and rendered a triumphant selection i The prompt and energetic action of this mornings session was determined upon I last night when it became apparent that i no consolidation with the Jennings faction fac-tion was likely to be effected The result of the organization effected this morning is that the cattle and horsemen of the j = I Territory are divided into two Territorial Associations both organized for accomplishing accom-plishing the same objects It is only a question of time when the two Associations Associa-tions will be consolidated as the stockmen stock-men of the Territory cannot afford to divide their strength a fight for legislation legisla-tion and for railroad rates |
