Show The Terms of Peace LONDON April 4The Pall JaZ Gazette Ga-zette this afternoon states that the reply of Russia to Englands proposals concerning con-cerning the Afghan frontier line dispute is most conciliatory The Russians the Gazelle says earnestly wish that a joint commission would commence the work of settling ttie frontier line as soon as possible They accept the principle of a definition of a zone of survey but instead of drawing the southern boundary of this zone at what they consider the northern frontier of Afghanistan which is an imaginary line drawn across the desolate steppe they propose that the line of the zone survey be carried up to the only natural line of demarcation existing namely the Borkus spur of the Paramamisus The difference between the English and Russian Rus-sian proposals the Gazette says is that the zone proposed by Russia would include in-clude a triangular piece of the steppe i < twenty to fifty miles wide which would be excluded from the zone of the survey I within which the English propose to confine con-fine the work of the boundary commission commis-sion i p |
