Show NEEDEDA HOUSE OF CORRECTION A Batch of Boys Up Before Judge Speirs This Morning When Arthur Curtis Raymond Curtis Lucien Adams and Joseph Ray all under fourteen years of age were brought into the Police Court this morning from the I city lockup the sight was sad to all be holders These the four are young boys I of six who were arrested yesterday for stealing cigars etc from a grocer Sen Irocer tence was suspended on two of the six on belief of unintentional mischief and Judge Speirs let Lucien Adams and Joseph Jos-eph Ray go home to their parents after talking to them of the shame and disgrace they had brought upon their names by bad associations The boys expressed their determination to abstain from bad company hereafter and never again be found in trouble by anyone The Curtis boys were fined one 10 and the other 5 as the older boy had I been before the Court un similar charges I before and the Judge spoke in feeling of the urgent need of a House of Correction in Utah where all neglected boys who are easily enticed into crime can be sent and taught to become good and useful citizens instead of developing into crim I inals as is now the ca te under present regulations It seems that the Legisla ture should take the matter in hand and provide an institution that has long been required in Utah Uth II I I |
