Show 0 J I STILL ON THE STRIKE Time Knights of Labor Will Boycott Tie the Brotherhood of Engineers The strike of the Denver Rio Grande shop employes stke in Denver and along the line of the road seems to be nearing a termination although the strikers appar Trains are firm ever ently are as as Tains enty of and the business running regularly rnnnig reguary is the road throughout its whole length without hindrance or going on smoothly delay The management have a sufficient number of men at work to answer every present purpose and can get as many as they may need They have refused employment em-ployment to a number of skilled workmen work-men and others preferring to give an opportunity op-portunity to some of the best of the or men to return to work but say that they can get all the help they want from the outside should the requirements of the road demand it In resuming work the officials say they intend to employ none but the best menThe men-The Denver News of Thursday says The leaders of the strike are very much chagrined at the action of the engineers firemen and brakemen in refusing to join them and the following resolutions were adopted in Denver on Tuesday evening by several lodges of the Knights of Labor Be it resolved by the various honorable of assemblies of the Knights of Labor America that we as a body do hold in supreme contempt the action already taken and now being taken by the Brotherhood of Locomotive Engineers in sustaining the Denver and Rio Grande railroad against the Knights of Labor in the grievances now claimed by the Denver and Rio Grande em ployes and we do solemnly pledge ourselves each and every one of us to join any company com-pany in defeating the said Brotherhood of I Locomotive Engineers when in a strike for their rights against any company no matter what their rights may be unless they desist hi their present action and support us in demanding de-manding our rights The engineers however feel that it is none of their funeral and together with the firemen brakemen and conductors fremen mind propose to keep right straight ing their own business and doing the duty for which they were employed A few more men were employed yesterday yes-terday by Mr Sample t supply the actual needs of the roads but a large number were refused employment The leaders of the strike are striving hard to make it appear that both engines and cars are unfit to run because of their need of repairs but the fact is the rolling stock of the road is in as good a condition condi-tion as it ever was |
