Show Farewell until next season Danny Sudbury Sports Editor The Jazz season has come cometo to an end Wednesday May 30 was the fateful day for forthe forthe forthe the Utah Jazz From the beginning of the series it didn't look to well for Utah But of course you couldn't help to think back to the opening round against Houston and how the Jazz went down 02 02 02 0 2 in that series but rallied back to win it in game seven The San Antonio Spurs arent aren't the Houston Rockets though San Antonio shot an impressive 65 percent on 13 of 20 shots and the Jazz were just 7 of 22 from the field The Jazz got down 30 19 by the end of the first quarter and San Antonio didn't ease up They just continued to take it to the Utah Jazz But the series was really lost in Game 4 on Monday May 28 In what looked like a game that was going well for the Jazz despite being down 8 points by the half Utah made a rally in inthe inthe inthe the third quarter to close the gap to one But then the Spurs' Spurs stronger desire and mental toughness came through The Jazz became frustrated and were not notable notable notable able to get anything done on offense and continued to complain at call after call to the officials This resulted in four technical fouls in inthe inthe inthe the fourth quarter and Jerry Sloan and Derrick Fisher both having to leave the game San Antonio shot 25 quarter fourth-quarter free throws and the entire Jazz team was almost outscored by Manu in the fourth fourth had 16 points while Utah had 17 The Jazz were completely demoralized after Game 4 They left arena to the booing of the crowd There were some guys who was already on vacation man Deron Williams said of Game 5 Mehmet shot a dismal percent in the game while Tony Parker was able to tear the Jazz apart with 11 II points in the first quarter alone It didn't help with Williams Williams' sore ankle and Derrick Fisher arriving late from his daughters daughter's treatment in New York But it also didn't help that Boozer was held to just 9 points and that the leading scorer for Utah was Andre Kirilenko at 13 points |
