I The club was organized organized organized organ organ- at 20 years ago and has been an active club on campus on and off since that time Coloring puts Outside ide the lines has been fully active for the l last st four years with Gordon Storrs as their Staff Advisor and Devan Probert as the current President Storrs says the club is m meant ant to be a place for people to come and speak openly about their feelings feelings feel feel- ings and issues s a way to meet people and develop close friendships Their mission statement reiterates that We Weare Weare Weare are dedicated to providing a safe friendly environment to discuss issues related to gay lesbian trans gender and questioning question ng lifestyles provid provid- ing an opportunity to establish friendships friendships' with people from different backgrounds and openness and equality among all students faculty and staff at the college The cl club b meets every Thursday at the South City Campus where they have activities discussions or guest speakers The club also participates in seve several al service projects and fund Past projects have been Christmas for an AIDS victim vic victim tim cleanup at a homeless shelter childrens children's book donations donations donations dona dona- and sorting food at the Utah Food Bank The club also participates in discussion panels in school classrooms and sponsors g related gay films at the college One of the clubs club's favorite raisers fund-raisers is the Diversity Ball held annually The e Diversity Ball will be beheld beheld beheld held December I 1st st at the South City Campus This years theme is The Roaring and apparel is encouraged at the Ball Admission is per couple and per person There will be a DJ free refreshments refreshments refreshments refresh refresh- ments and entertainment The club uses the money for their annual trip In years past they have gone to the Lesbian Gay Youth Conferences in San Francisco and Los Angeles and the Millennium March Marchin in DC The Diversity Ball is meant for everyone Adam dam Bass the clubs club's Vice President t says its a ball for anybody to 5 1 bring anybody to straight and 2 gay The purpose of the ball is to celebrate diversity so every everyone ne is encouraged to come and represent whoever they are Coloring Outside the Lines is a very positive organ organ- 11 Probert says its a great bridge between High School and College The club helps members feel connected connected connected con con- to the school and the support from the college is very refreshing says Probert The club doesn't suit every every- body Some feel overwhelmed overwhelmed over over- ly whelmed and people come and go In the end its just a good place to be yourself r |
