J Snow t Staff Writer For the record I have lost five pounds and about one to two inches around my gut Not bad for a fat guy but at the same time I know I can do better It has been over a month since I started tracking my diet through this column Wow how time flies I have to be honest I haven't put an extreme amount of effort into my diet and on the other hand I haven't completely wasted it away with a Skittles and whipped cream binge Ive I've been trying to watch what I eat and I make sure that I dont don't overeat at the same time am I eating the right foods Probably not I eat something Itry I Itry Itry try to pretend that I am a midget and that I only eat half the calories no offense to the short people this just helps me visual visual- ize my caloric intake You should set and reset your weight loss at the end of each month of your diet Its It's the same thing as balancing your checkbook checkbook checkbook check check- book and setting a new budget It needs to be a part of your nature I promise you if you practice this that you will see results For instance my goal is to still lose 60 pounds by March I am 55 pounds away Ill I'll take anything anything anything any any- thing closer to my goal But now I need to sit down and sharpen my focus First I know I can go to the gym a lot more than I am and on ona ona ona a more consistent basis On Monday Wednesday and Friday I can wake up 15 minutes earlier and make it to the gym for an weight aerobic lift session because I dont don't leave until am a.m. I can sacrifice the one hour of sleep Also I need to manage my food consumption better Okay A LOT I better Instead of just eating breakfast lunch and dinner with t an occasional snack I can keep a food journal that helps me track my food intake This is an excellent excellent excellent excel excel- lent way to manage a weight-loss weight program The point of this is to show you two things one that a weight- weight loss program is a process not aSee a aSee aSee See Diet on page 11 1 Diet continued from page 10 quick around a that a lot of TV and magazine ads promote and two that a weight-loss weight program program program pro pro- gram is a goal orientated system and that you should never look back and see failures but advancements In the next column I hope to give you examples of my diet food journal and exercise pro pro- gram |
