Show FUTURE STARS sr GRACE CAMPUS Some of the newest and best visited I during this ye years year's rs r's Rocky Mountain Review By Brock Kassing Sports Editor If youve you've been hanging around the Redwood campus the thelast thelast last couple of weeks you probably probably probably proba proba- bly couldn't help but noti notice e ea a number of signs pointing you in inthe the direction of the Rocky Mountain Review If youre you're like me and actually look forward to the Rocky Mountain Review you know what's going on Asfor Asfor As Asfor for t those ose of you who dont don't youre you're missing out Well unless you hate basketball The Rocky Mountain Review is one of four highly anticipated Summer Leagues For the past nine days rookies free agents as well as veterans have joined up with one of nine teams which were featured in inthis inthis inthis this years year's Rocky Mountain Review The Review gives players both old and young a chance to show their stuff and prove themselves themselves themselves them them- selves to coaches and scouts No you probably arent aren't going to see players like Shaquille ONeal or Jason Kidd But if you attended this years Review you did get a chance to see Chicago Bulls Point Guard Jay Williams second pick overall overall overall over over- all in this years draft as aswell aswell aswell well as Drew Gooden picked fourth overall by the Memphis Grizzlies Other players featured were fifth overall pick by the Denver Nuggets Dajuan Wagner picked sixth by bythe bythe bythe the Cleveland Cavaliers Chris Anderson who was named this years Rocky Mountain Review Tyson Chandler Eddy Curry Lonny Baxter Hilario Carlos Boozer and Amare and many more future hopefuls were seen at this years Review There were also a number of local players who j joined ined teams to participate in this years Review Players such as Alex Jensen from the University of Utah who joined the Dallas Mavericks' Mavericks summer squad Chris Burgess also a former fonner Ute joined the Phoenix Suns Fred House from Southern Utah University along with Eddie Gill out of Weber State joined forces with the rest of of the Memphis Grizzlies for this years year's summer team Unfortunately for the Host Team of the Rocky Mountain Review our own Utah Jazz fans didn't get a chance to see this years year's draft pick Curtis Borchardt due to a broken foot but that's another article another article in itself soI sol will leave my mouth shut If you didn't get a chance to catch Utah's first game of the Review then you didn't get to see Andrei Kirilenko Andrei went down with a sprained ankle in Utah's first game and sat for forthe forthe forthe the remainder of the Review It wasn't all bad for the Jazz however DeShawn Stevenson looked promising Stevenson averaged points and 32 assists per game and was named to this years All Review- Review Team The Jazz also took the opportunity to work on center Jarron Col Collins Collins' ins ins' s game creating more I plays and opportunities FN for him to get to the free y y a throw line The in doing so Collins went to the free w throw line 43 times in y just six games Y Sure these teams want to win and the players y want to prove themselves themselves themselves them them- selves but the Rocky Mountain Review was also a time to get out G there and have fun I enjoy being out there and its it's a good opportunity opportunity opportunity to play with a lot off of new guys said Jazz center Jarron Collins Denver Nuggets Forward Chris Anderson was The Review also was a good opportunity 77 for fans named this years year's 3 Rocky Mountain Review to come out and watch future stars of the without having to take out a loan from the bank The price of the Rocky Mountain Review Five dollars a day So now you know what the signs and the extra cars in the parking lot were all about these last couple of weeks If you didn't didn't didn't did did- nt get a chance this year grab a date or a friend or you can even go solo like I did and catch a game or two when the Rocky Mountain Review comes to town next year |
