| Show I Cant Can't We All Just Get Along I ITo I To The Editor 1 Controversial topics always bring out the debater in many of us I have given in to a particular topic printed for May 21 21 The article was titled Religion as seen by Tom religious fanatic in which the author exclaimed their disgust dis dis- disgust i gust with Toms Tom's tactics for preaching ignoring questions and giving religion a bad name I felt most of us listening j i myself included did not give much agreement or sympathy to Toms Tom's ideas Just as Tom did not try to understand his listeners and discuss issues the author of the article was exactly the same iI i I giving slander and judgement j Maybe the cause is once again this sided one single-minded single blind faith environment which many of ofus us here in J Utah know well With many differing views and opinions this is a contradiction I felt preached to by both parties both seeking converts in one sense or another Be mindful that we feel justified to call some groups brainwashers Arent Aren't we all brainwashed or rather programmed and conditioned to a particular j thought process by our environment and experience No one chooses for us we may choose not to decide but that is in fact a choice I feel that if we are writing for public awareness and education we should stick to facts and issues Personal opinion opinion j ion is important but must be supported well with fact not just more opinion iMy j i My purpose for writing is not to return slander or to offend the author but that we all may be aware of one another 1 and hopefully share and discuss our differences with open minds and sincere hearts for the betterment of our ti tion Learning why is knowledge knowledge is power and having the ability to manage power is wisdom 1 Gregg Lloyd Bott Mathematics Art Major |
