Show d f b i I t 10 i q qs s N J r t tEllen tr r Ellen Watt campus affairs vice president d Er Err r if L aff e 7 cp ty fil fl Wi je l fa ff fN r Ir 7 i activities vice ambassador Maxine Robinson former president Two Ambassadors go goto goto to College in Manchester By Keltie Kellie Contributing Writer Two students recently served as ambassadors to the city of Manchester England with the intent to develop a cultural exchange pro pro- gram Maxine Robinson former activities activities activities ties vice president and Ellen Watt campus affairs vice president landed in Manchester on April 23 to view a program that would enable students from and Salford College to switch institutions for a quarter The program is still in the early stages of development but the idea is beginning lo to take shape The backbone backbone backbone back back- bone of the program provides students students students stu stu- stu- stu dents form and Salford College the opportunity to exchange places and continue the their r education in a foreign land The curriculum for the course will consist of studying the culture of Manchester and Salt Lake City Robinson and Watt were able to experience this different in environment environment environment environ environ- ment for two weeks They stayed with a host family and visited Salfords Salford's campus Along with classroom classroom classroom class class- room tours the representatives were able to interact with the students of Salford and see what separated these two colleges besides the distance The students of Salford College are all going to school to learn the art artof artof artof of business or a trade The credits at atthe atthe atthe the college do not transfer to a university university university uni uni- uni- uni which is considered the higher high high- er education Robinson and Watt also noticed that no activities such as barbecues are held or there are no guest speak speak- ers Being an integral part of our students students students stu stu- stu- stu dents association the two ambassadors ambassadors ambassadors ambas ambas- were interested in seeing what kind if social events Salford provided for their students The Salford Students Association introduced them to a dance club and a pub all owned and operated by them The purpose of their student association is to train the students how to run nul a business and make money As the ambassadors left the students students students stu stu- stu- stu dents of Salford behind and headed back to Salt Lake they were filled with new views on education The completion of this s project is a afew afew afew few years down the road but the experience will be a valuable one for future students About the trip Robinson commented commented commented com com- I 1 learned and saw more than I ever would in hi a classroom It was an amazing experience to see theold the theold theold old architecture and history that surrounds surrounds surrounds sur sur- sur- sur rounds the Salford college |
