understand these big time tune athletes athletes athletes ath ath- ath- ath letes I would go out there and play for free and enjoy every minute of it Well heres here's your chance With fall semester just underway the recreation office has come out with the schedule of mens and recreation co-recreation sporting activities The preliminary slate includes singles tennis for men and women recreation co-recreation flag football co- co recreation soccer bowling co- co recreation tennis doubles co tion six on six league volleyball a golf tournament three on three mens and basketball and possibly floor hockey In each activity a forfeit fee of 1000 per individual or 2500 per team will be required These fees will be refunded upon attendance at atthe atthe atthe the particular event but will not be refunded if a team or individual fails to appear on time for the event This has been done to encourage those who sign up for particular activities will participate and not waste the time of fellow athletes Tennis will be the first activity of the season on Friday Oct 6 for both men and women The format will be bea a single elimination tournament but butwill butwill butwill will provide a consolation bracket to ensure all participants play in at least two matches Each match will consist consist consist con con- of a single set played by United States Tennis Association rules The winners of each league or tournament will receive a championship champion champion- ship T The soccer league games will be played on Tuesdays from pm p.m. beginning Oct 10 Teams will consist of six players each and will not require a minimum participation by men or women on any team Games will be played on the Softball field but will not be regulation regulation regula regula- ti tion on size Flag football will off kick-off the new season on Wednesday Oct 11 and will be played each week on Wednesdays Games will be played at pm p.m. This sport is rec co-rec requiring no minimum participation for men or women Participants are encouraged to be aware of the inherent risk of this sport and should play according according- ly A list of rules will be given to those who turn in This is really a good chance for people to get some exercise but then to go out afterwards maybe to pizza or something and make new friends Many students do not take advantage advantage advantage ad ad- vantage of the student intramural fees of three dollars which was paid at registration These fees pay for upkeep upkeep upkeep up up- keep of facilities officials prizes and miscellaneous expenses of the recreational program The intramural sports are free to any student faculty or staff member who would like to participate Team sports such as flag football football football foot foot- ball can also have up to two players who are not attending However those players must pay paya a 1000 participation fee which will not be refunded so as to reserve funds for those actively attending The entry
