Show Visual Art and Design t Display Work on Campus 1 By Julia Thomas Contributing Writer students displayed their art work at the Visual Art and Design Department Art Show held in the Science and Industry building gallery The art show ran May 18 23 and again on May 26 The artwork displayed a variety of topics which included fine arts illustrations illustrations cartooning multimedia design photography photography photography pho pho- and many others Over pieces were entered and hung for all to see Susie Geertsen art show director and faculty member said that the show gives students practical experience experience experience in sharing their artwork and practical experience in competing Besides the experience Geertsen s slid said id the students get personal recognition through the show Students will also have work to use as portfolio pieces An award ceremony was held on May Mayi i t Ci 1 tu irti It Ht ii H-ii a t j. j an u 14 r 27 at the Alder Amphitheater where some award recipients will receive cash awards while others give certificates Geertsen said We always try to give tuition waiver for Best of Show Still most likely this show is the end of the line for artwork Because there are no higher competition at the college for the pieces to be entered into Usually it just goes back to the students students students stu stu- dents Geertsen said The artwork done was specifically in the visual art and design department said Geertsen Although four other art shows are held throughout the year only one is open to all students who wish to participate That is the Presidents show and is usually held in the fall Art shows at are free All students are welcome a and ld encouraged to attend u u K t I J |
