Show Letters to Editor Parking turns people into monsters Dear Editor Sometimes you think you know a person by your everyday conta contact with him or her Suddenly one day you see them in a new situation and realize that you never really knew them at all l For or instance I have seen otherwise sane rational courteous people right here on campus campus cam campus pus transformed into hideous psychopathic stalkers when placed in our campus parking lot I have not only witnessed this but I myself have been a victim on numerous oc oc- oc- oc What really bothered me though was that last Friday I was accused of being the perpetrator Now l f r realize that after circling the parking parking parking park park- ing lot for over 20 minutes a persons person's perspective of possibly the whole world might be somewhat altered But this incident is as fresh in my mind today as it was Friday And Im I'm still having flaying a nara time sorting it out The obscene gestures and verbal abuse were terrible I calmly tried to explain myself which only accelerated this womans woman's anger When she got so agitated that I thought she might leave her vehicle I I waved my hand inthe in inthe inthe the air turned and walked to class My safety in question I just hurried not looking back Never I mean never exchange any contact with an irate driver What to start a day I felt a way guilty guilty- maybe I should have given her that spot But ButI I really didn't think that was right I was frustrated that there wasn't a peaceful tion Ironically I was angry all of this negative negative negative nega nega- tive emotion on both of our parts over a parking spot What did it represent Is there that much at stake that it is worth losing control control control con con- Cant Can't anything ng be done about the situation situation situation situa situa- tion I see this happening everyday I am relieved that I dont don't always have to be here before 7 am a.m. Signed Barbara Kleemeyer |
