Show E- E 4 Dall Black Candidate for forthe forthe forthe the House of Representatives Dall Ball Black has announced that he is a Democratic Party candidate for the Utah House of Representatives in District 21 The District covers South Murray Murray Murray Mur Mur- ray and South Cottonwood In seeking the office he said My platform will be one of honesty integrity and hard work for and in behalf of my constituents and the state of Utah Mr Black has a Bachelor of Science Degree in Social Science from Brigham Young University with minors in English English English Eng Eng- lish and Physical Education He also has a Master of Science Degree in Industrial Education from Utah State University He is a retired Army Colonel having spent 21 years in the military service during and after W World orId War II During WW WWII II he served in Guadalcanal and the Philippines He has had other non-combatant non overseas tours in Hawaii Japan Korea Austria Germany and France Currently Mr Black is in his eleventh year at Utah Technical College at Salt Lake primarily in teaching He teaches in the areas of English speech technical technical technical tech tech- writing and civics He has also served at the college as department head of the Metals Trades Division and as Athletic Director He has also taught three years at John Carroll University Cleveland Ohio Active in religious and civic affairs he is presently serving on the Murray City Personnel Services Committee and is in inthe inthe inthe the Bishopric of the Murray Ninth Ward Over the years he has been active in the Little League and Babe Ruth baseball programs as a coach In the first instance Mr Black feels strongly that there is too much apathy on the part of individuals as concerns gov gov- They are the government government government govern govern- ment he said and only through the voice of the people on governmental issues can we become strong Your voice is heard Other matters he feels strongly about and which he indicates indicates indicates in in- he will work towards if elected in November are- are 1 Getting the drunk driver off the roads through enforcement of the existing laws however he said that the current laws are adversely affected by the recent judicial decisions regarding Utah's drunk driving laws The Utah Supreme Court decisions decisions decisions de de- must be reversed he continued 2 Rigid enforcement enforcement enforcement enforce enforce- ment of the existing laws or enactment of tougher ones in helping reduce the soaring crime rate in Utah 3 Working toward improvement of our highways 4 To bring industry into the state on an orderly basis Create jobs in order to keep our Utah-trained Utah people in Utah this of course not at the expense of our environment which must be cleaned up 5 Working towards the improvement improvement improvement improve improve- ment of education in every aspect so that students can academic receive top quality or vocational education Mr Black said he favors our school remaining vocationally orien orien- ted 6 Getting rid of pornography pornography pornography raphy and smut in our state which he says is becoming a cancer particularly in the Wasatch Front area |
