Show UTAH TECH ATTENDS UIA CONFERENCE The Utah Intercollegiate Assembly UIA was convened for their second session Utah Tech was represented by Stu Stu- President Ted Bird and Sharon Theurer in the House of Representative and by Vice President President President Pres Pres- ident Ken Drachman and Linda Gilvarry in the Senate and ReNae Bird and K KLouise KLouise KLouise K- K Louise Butler as Staff Assist Assist- ants Over one hundred resolutions resolutions resolutions were introduced and passed during the three day working session including bills billson on tuition increases tenant- tenant landlord problems student representation representation representation re re- re- re presentation on institutional councils and voter registration R Representative e p rese ve B Bird i rd and Senator G Gilvarry sponsored co-sponsored a r resolution to hold cafeteria sales as tax exempt with research research research re re- re- re search back- back backup up by the whole delegation The delegation n was able to meet representatives from all of the other schools of higher education in the state except Snow College and Westminister As a result of participation in UIA UTA Ted Bird has been contacted by one of the State Representatives to give input from on legislation that will be introduced in the 1975 session of the Utah State Legislature Legislature Legislature Leg Leg- and Linda Gilvarry was appointed treasurer for forthe the UIA for 1975 The U UIA IA session was enjoyable enjoyable enjoyable enjoy enjoy- able but although this session is now history the work isn't finished The Executive Council will be spearheading the U UIA IA lobbying efforts in inthe inthe inthe the State Legislature during the 1975 session |
