A 0 40 v S er- er I ov 11 y owl I- I I K i r v. v 7 J i A I 0 7 f j i 1 Jockey Bob Brackett boots winning vinning horse across finish line in photo finish during California race shortly before Bob left tracks for Trade Tech By Way of Racetrack Show Business Class Class' to Shop f n By LARRY ALLRED Trade Tech student Bob Brackett at the age of eighteen grew out of his job with a midget show He took up professional horse race riding He retired from horse racing when he had trouble with sight in one eye So he came to Trade Tech Bob at age of 15 left school to join the midget show o He started out with the group making a film in Los Angeles entitled Three Wise Fools It must have been a flop he saidI haven't even seen it on teleVision tele tele- vision At this time he was approximately approximate approximate- ly four feet tall and weighed 49 pounds At eighteen he started to grow again Bob had to quit the show because he was getting over size He then started a trade that his whole family had been in At eight- eight teen Bob started to ride horses as asa asa asa a professional jockey He rode in races locally and nat nat- He won his first race and Plenty of the others The biggest race Bob won yon w was s for of which he received A native of Utah Bob made his his first race in Tremonton Utah Bob lost the sight of one eye as the bhe years went on so he retired from horse racing in September 1961 He decided to learn a new trade so he investigated Salt Lake Trade Tech and found Machine Shop suited suited suited suit suit- ed his interests After Bob graduates this coming spring he hopes to have a cornea transplanted in his eye so he can see well veIl again Bob is quite an He likes all sports especially bowling bovling However However However How How- ever he is unable to bowl on Thursdays Thurs Thurs- days the days the day Trade Tech's teams take to the alleys Weight lifting used to be one of Bobs Bob's sports along with tumbling and swimming In one lift Bob does a pound bench press and he has accomplished a dead lift of pounds When Bob was vas 12 he was able to stand footed flat-footed on the floor and jump onto a four-foot four table Bob is a family man He has a 0 wife and three children one nine- nine year-old year boy a year six-year-old girl and a three three- year three year old girl As an extra-curricular extra activity Bob plays the bugle and plays it well |
