Show funeral services for mrs carlson funeral services for mrs arthur carlson who passed f from born this life on tuesday of last week were held on monday afternoon in the L D S church with rev howard parry in charge As often happ happens en s when there is no other available place large enough ta a accommodate the relatives and friends of a member of the community whose funeral service calls together folks f from all sections the church was offered for use on this occasion beside relatives and close friends from all outlying communities many local folks gathered at the church at p m to attend the services A tris tria composed of mrs ross musselman mrs J F heer and mrs jake reece sang abide with me rev mr parry then read from rom acts 9 beginning at the verse and followed with a sacred song accompanied acied by mrs harral who also accompanied the trio and later another number by the same group and three of the young men of the san church ross musselman then read appropriate prop verses of scripture taken from matthew 25 beginning at the verse which illustrated the manner in which mrs carlson conducted herself throughout her life the first speaker was A J redd who paid high tribute to all members I 1 of the carlson families and I 1 to the parents and other relatives of mrs carlson who were old time residents of monticello he also spoke of the fine qualities of mrs carlson of whom only good was always spoken because of of her many acts of kindness for f or others rev mr parry then read the obituary notice prepared prepare d by the family after which a quartette of church members sang two continued on page four funeral services continued from page 1 sacred songs this group included lwe dixie barbara thompson mabel imabel wright and helen redd with madolyn at the piano rev mr parry then spoke calling attention to the large gathering of sorrowing friends the lovely flowers and the other manifestations of love expressed which he said was evidence of the respect in which mrs carlson was hen h he called attention to the me md f I 1 bers of the american legion and auxiliary who had come ce over from dove creek and northdale Nort hdale and the many friends from distant places as well as those from her own church and many from the church his address touched on the many acts of kindness bestowed upon himself and mrs parry and upon the church while he was pastor here and he told of the many tim times es when mrs carlson joined him in visiting the sick and bereaved of the parish always bi banging binging nging comfort and strength to them he closed his address with a poem and a prayer asking gods blessing on those who are left to mourn rs r s following Foi lowing the church J 1 the family proceeded to the LOCA kloct erby cemetery where all that was mortal of mrs carlson was laid ito to rest I 1 1 nellie carlson wife of arthur I 1 carlson was born at monticello utah indian creek march 25 1901 the daughter of martinus and marguerite johnson died F february 20 1945 aged nearly 44 years she lived in monticello and vicinity during her entire life she is survived by her husband arthur carlson and two sons by a f former ormer marriage bill and fred watkins also by her mother marguerite johnson now residing in princeton california one sister hazel miller of princeton calif california or and two brothers amodel and cerondo johnson of springfield oregon she was a member of the sall sail juan county community church baptist |
