Show funeral services for dorothy borothy bayles editors note we are indebted to our blanding correspondents margie lyman and florence galbraith for the following sweet inspirational and peace peaceful funeral services were held for dorothy halliday bayles sunda sunday january 23 1944 at p in in the blanding ward chapel chape with second counselor win ervin palmer officiating in the absence of bishop john D rogers the flaral offerings were exquisite the church was filled almost to its capp capacity city an indication of the love lova and esteem felt for dorothy thru out the county and stake the first song god moves ina in a mysterious way was by the ward choir philip hurst president of the stake offered the invocation the see sec ond song was by the relief society singing mothers ye heavy heart bishop L frank redd of the monticello llo ward was the first speaker he repeated a quotation of the savior when he said he that would be great among you 1 lct 11 1 him be the servant of all saying that dorothy typified this in that she had been an angel of mercy and was in very deed a servant of all the second speak er was dr edward van aelstyn of the public health department from price a man who had worked with and knew dorothy ve very well he paid high tribute to her when i he said that she was perhaps the greatest mother the tha county ever had because of her work and her ideals she has made better bette r nurses and better doctors throughout the state of utah following dr van a ladies trio consisting of edith lyman miss kistle and flora nielson of the monticello ward sang the lord is my shepherd from the psalm president marian G nielson of the ward relief society spoke of dorothys ability as a leader of her good judgment and the confidence people had in her she mentioned dorothys natural mother heart though she was never permitted to have a baby of her own she took the orphan children of her brother and gave them all the love and care that she could have given to her own she also mentioned the fact that dorothy was spiritually minded ard and felt the need of prayer and appreciated the authority of the priesthood darwin jones accompanied by mrs mary L adams sang in my fathers house are many mansions the next speaker was patriarch albert R lyman who never fails to thrill everyone with his testimony of the gospel of jesus christ he said the joy we have in this life is nothing to compare with the joy of the eternity that this romance of dee and dorothy will continue on the lords prayer was rendered by them the singing mothers bishop wm ervin palmer made mad a few remarks enumerating again the wonderful qualities of dorothy and the fine work she did in church and civic affairs the clo closing singsong song was by the choir til go where you want me to go the benediction was by patriarch benjamin D black burial was in the blanding cemetery the choir sang at the graveside prayer is the souls sincere desire the continued on rage eighty eight DOROTHY BAYLES continued from page ai 1 grave was dedicated by hanson D bayles pallbearers Pall bearers were hanson D grant L dr wesly L and lyman bayles fred halliday and richard west A great many relatives and friends came from far distances distance to pay their love and ret ct to dorothy and her bereaved husband among them were dr van aelstyn and nurses emma cannon enid howarth jennis jenni bekker Bekk erand and margaret clayton who with ann hatch and jessie burtenshaw nurses of cur own locality fol lowed as a group next to the family dorothy halliday was born the ath of march 1906 in pleaman Pl easan grove utah daughter of ern st at R and nellie robison halliday she attended elementary and high school in pleasant grove the family hovd to salt lake city and dorothy attended the university of utah she entered the hospital for training and graduated with the class cf 27 she worked wobkea as nurse as well as matron of the girls at grandman grand canyon and bryce lodge also as supervisor per visor of the maternity ward at the hospital on the ath of october 1932 she married de L bayles of blanding in the salt lake temple after coming to blanding she took the position of public health nurse in san juan county which she filled with honor for nine years she was very active in the church and filled many places of trust and responsibility at the time of her death she was ato couns counselor alor in the ward relief society survivors include h her er h Is b and three foster children ta I 1 dorothy and ernest halliday t t all e r deceased brothers children all of blanding Blan jing her mother and two sisters mrs J wallace west and mrs john R player of salt lake i city |
