Show kumen jones passes after brief illness with the passing of uncle kumen jones of bluff on thursday morning june 11 san juan county loses one of its most respected lifelong life long citizens we re siet si ret et the delay in getting a detailed story of his life and activities in time for publication this week but it will be offered in the dext issue the following account of the funeral service was written by our blanding correspondent mrs minnie G bugg the funeral service for kumen ku 1 jones was held in the ward haep chapel on sunday afternoon at two the opening prayer was offered by patriarch ben D black the speakers were president J B harrs caroline redd and walter C lyman A violin duet due was very beautifully rendered by hyi am porter and joe hunt ernest adams sang my faith in thee guy hurst offered the benediction kumen jones was 86 years of age and spent over 60 years of his life in san juan having been commissioned by the L D S church to pioneer this region and make friends with the indians a task which he filled with credit kumen jones name will go down in history as an outstanding character in the development of the state of utah in fact his name ii nw w appears on the pages of history books used in many of ot I 1 the schools and universities of the state stale he leaves to mourn his widow and four sons marvin tom and alma of blanding and francis of salt lake city and one daughter mrs mamie adams of blanding also 36 grandchildren and 14 great grand grandchildren children |
