Show unlicensed DRIVERS ARE A MENACE 0 driving without a license accounted for of the arrests nade by the state slate highway patrol during october according to the monthly report of patr patrol 01 activities tivi ties submitted to the I 1 state road cammi commission sion by R W groo superintendent of the patrol blockades conducted on the various highways assisted the patrol in gathering in motorists who persist in driving without licenses in defiance to the law total arrests for september were of which were for lack of drivers license speeders drew arrest tickets during october as compared with for september however the number running stop signs decreased from 84 to 57 only 23 warning tickets were issued during the month as compared to during september it would seem from these statistics that the highway patrol feels that the period of education has been long enough to justify arrests for violations instead of mere warnings in commenting on the arrests made for lack of licenses W D hammond chairman of the road commission declared that the patrol will continue its drive against violators of the license requirement in the interest of safety hi highway hway fatalities have increased beyond all reason said mr hammond we think that ie quiring every motorist to pass an examination and secure a drivers license will help to solve our fatality problem and cut down the number of accidents on the highways in this matter as in all other traffic problems we must have the operation cooperation co of the public if we are to succeed |
