Show much loved citizen passes into the life beyond james N lewis who came to san juan joan county in 1912 to make his horns home and to rear his family passed from this life at monday morning at the home of his daughter mrs wilford frost until about a year ago mr lewis was in good health and except for deafness carried no other visible sign of his increasing years having attained his eightieth birthday on november alth of the last year I 1 for three years prior to a decided breakdown in health about eight months ago mr lewis was caretaker of the county court house building during that period of service he endeared himself to his associates and to many other persons who had occasion to enter the court house his keen sense of humor and his respect and love for his fellowmen fel were charac characteristics teri sties which made thit this e elderly man outstanding these things were mentioned by each of the speakers and by bishop L frank redd who presided at the funeral services held on tuesday afternoon at the L D S church in monticello the selected hymns offered during the service were also in keeping with his thought and portrayed the kindly nature of mr lewis george F barton offered the opening prayer and clarence I 1 frost the closing benediction frank halls chas A walton and bishop L frank redd were the speakers T N lewis his son dedicated the grave I 1 mrs L frank redd and mrs I 1 bertha allred loile bailey and I 1 his mother mrs ruth bailey alternated terna ted in offering the chosen hymns with maxine redd as accompanist comp anist the church was filled with relatives and friends of mr lewis some of whom came from distant points james N lewis was born in west jordan near salt lake county utah on november 11 1859 he married frances fergeson on july 1878 one child was born of this union who is now mrs victoria robinson of kanosh utah I 1 on december 2 1886 mr lewis married susan caroline hall and six children were born of this continued on page 13 MUCH LOVED CITIZEN continued from page 1 union although only mrs wilford frost and her brother J W lewis of victorville Vic torville calif survive the other children were myrtle lewis hildabrand emma lewis alaska lewis young and lester lewis other descendants include awen tyone ty one grandchildren and ten great grand children some of whom were present at the funeral services on tuesday five grandsons and a cousin acted as pall bearers J 9 tribute was paid to them and J mr and mrs wilford frost and other members of the family who so lovingly cared for mr lewis during the past few months since he was bedridden bed ridden for the greater part of this time at the wilford frost home and was a great sufferer at times his passing therefore was a happy release to a better life and thru the fine example he zet set to his forebears mr lewis has earned a fine reward in the great beyond |
