Show S S cattle co entertains guests at indian creek about four hundred invited guests were entertained on saturday afternoon and evening at the indian creek ranch of the S S cattle company of which J A is the chief executive and owner the guests were invited to remain over night and about a hundred availed themselves of the opportunity to enjoy the experience of sleeping in the great out cf doors rolled in their blankets under the glorious canopy of stars the day and evening was ideal for the party and by five nearly all of the guests were assembled and ready to enjoy the fine cowboy supper prepared by mrs and her assistants after a bountiful repast of fried steak baked beans roaming ears sour dough biscuits and coffee or cocoa topped off with pea peaches elies and cream served by the cowboys the evening program was announce bounced noun ced J mr welcomed the guests and introduced franklin J adams of blanding who acted as toastmaster community singing led by mrs adams with mrs elva sprague at the piano opened the program instrumental and vocal selections readings and short talks by prominent guests combined to make the evening one of real enjoyment joy ment bishop marvin 0 ashton one of the counselors of the church of latter day saints was one of the honored guests and spoke of the wonders of the locality calling attention to the unusual rock formation and the beauties of the interior country through which we had to pass to reach the dugout ranch 22 miles from the highway he and other speakers paid tribute to mr for his fine management and long period of service as a cattle owner and citizen of san juan county and those who listened were made aware of the steady growth of a cattle business which is now one of the largest in the state the gathering of many people from all parts of the state and another evidence of the goodwill and friendliness which is typical of western life and general hospitality marked the second annual P party arty to be held at indian creek As the cars began to wind their way out of the canyons those who remained overnight were entertained by the fine impromptu program of baritone solos offered by C claude robbins of blanding who arrived too late to take part in the regular program and so ended another event to be remembered by all who were fortunate enough to attend breakfast was served to the guests who remained over night and who left at intervals during the morning hours |
