Show blanding fight card proves fast exciting several car loads of people from monticello attended the boxing exhibition at blanding monday night dec 26 including a truck load of between 25 and 30 boy scouts accompanied by azout master wilford frost and troop committeeman lawrence black representative people attending the exhibition and witnessing tha card pronounced it exception exceptionally all y good all the boys were very evenly matched which is attested by the fact that four of the six bouts resulted in draws the blanding M men who arranged the card were highly praised for the way the affair was managed and the reception they accorded to visitors I 1 from other towns the mo monticello cello S scout C 0 U t troop supplied the ring and other equipment and were admitted I 1 free of charge to the exhibition this is just one of the many worthwhile considerations accorded to the scouts which makes their registration a matter well worth while and a profitable investment I 1 following was the lineup line up for the contest with the results the curtain raiser was a two round one minute bout between nielson and shumway both of blanding both boys exhibited an intimate knowledge of the manly art of defense and put on a splendid show while it lasted the match was declared a draw next was another two by one bout between coyote and eagleburger it was fast and furious and resulted in a decision in favor of the latter in the third bout quint hurst swapped punches with joe glick of newark N J it was a three round two minute stand and the boys furnished plenty of excitement for the spectators being nearly the same size and evenly matched the bout was declared a draw in the fourth bout of four two minute rounds pete grippi pounds of manhattan N Y won from his pound adversary kirk nielson of bluff utah the fifth bout went for five 2 minute rounds and was between julius martinelli lbs of brooklyn N Y and bill kimmer lee of los angeles calif ibs these boys put on a fine show and I 1 each gave all there was in him the fight resulting in a draw what was scheduled as the main event was for six 2 minute rounds between johnnie kimmerle Kini merle of los angeles and rudy benik of manhattan N Y each was credited with an avoirdupois of pounds these boys put up a fine scrap but in the opinion of the onlookers no better than some of the other contenders on the card but of course as rounds are added the th contestants are bound to tire more there was no appreciable preci able advantage between the principals who were meeting for the third time and as many times have emerged with a draw deais ion 1 rj those attending the exhibition felt that they had their full mone mon e eys ays worth and are calling cabling for more such contests 1 J |
