Show henry A crouse takes 41 own L life if e aged monticello bachelor prospector uses shotgun to end heartaches has been resident of san juan and grand countes count es since coming here in 1883 seated on the edge of the front porch of his humble dwelling on south main street in monticello last sunday evening henry dil whiskers ly crouse leaned over the ie of his loaded 16 gauge shotgun and pressed the trigger the full charge entered the plexus of his torso and death was almost instantaneous s the t me was and there were two ot other h e r persons in the house at the time totally unaware of the suicides movements or intentions no intimation had been given of his state of mind and they were horrified by the denouement mrs mcguire and elijah wilson lived in the same house with mr crouse apparently the deceased was in his usual state of health helas he was receiving relief for his sustenance during the winter and was very deaf being able to hear only with the aid of an ear phone apparently life had lost all attraction for him and he took this way out he had never ryar married ried so is survived by no children simple graveside grave side ceremonies were conducted at the cemetery monday presided over by bishop L frank redd and the remains were interred in the local cemetery A vocal duet nearer my god to thee was rendered by arch and fletcher bronson henry hinkley opened the services by prayer C E walton made remarks and the grave was dedicated by bishop redd biographical henry D crouse was born feb 25 1871 at eau galla dunn co wisconsin in the spring of 1874 the crouse family left wisconsin heading for texas they spent the winter of 74 and 75 in Oha mulga oklahoma and on account of the lawless conditions that prevailed in texas altered their plans and started for puget sound washington on reaching beaver county utah they decided to locate in greenville and the deceased spent his early boyhood in beaver county in 1883 he crossed the grand river into moab valley and has spent the most of his life since that time in san juan andurand and grand counties prospecting herding sheep and doing odd jobs only a few days day s before his fais death he talked of leaving for one of his periodical prospecting trips to spend the balance of the winter he is survived by one sister and four brothers viz mrs V A shepard and nessa crouse du chesne ed crouse of cedar city domarius Do carius crouse dragon utah and thurmer crouse escalante utah |
