Show emergency council Relea releases sens figures on old age assistance salt lake city dec 18 accord ng to reports received by allen alien T sanford state director for the national emergency council for the month of september 1938 oklahoma led the states in the number of people over 65 years of age receiving old age assistance with out of each thousand over 65 years of age receiving assistance which was a decrease of 17 per thousand from may 1938 utah is second with out of each thousand which was an increase of 14 per thousand shousan d from may 1938 colorado is third with idaho has montana wyoming nevada per thousand receiving assistance however in oklahoma the average paid to each recipient for september was 1518 in utah with a 20 per cent cut it was 2032 colorado 2788 idaho 2153 montana 2041 nevada 2658 in utah the number of recipients increased in september one half of one per cent over the number in august virginia had the lowest number only 27 out of each thousand persons received old age a assistance s s i s t a n c e with the avei average age amount paid to each reci recipient piert new hampshire was second the average paid being 2277 and the district pf af columbia was third with 77 per thousand receiving an average of 2533 in the united states as a whole out of each one thousand of the estimated population over 65 years of age were drawing an average of 1807 per month during september 1938 |
