Show Sugar House Chamber Honors Manufacturers At Luncheon Today Sugar House, the sight of the in-lustrial in-lustrial and manufacturing birth in the state of Utah, today through its Chamber of Commerce will honor the industries and manufacturers manu-facturers of the southeast area. The observance to be conducted at this Wednesday noon luncheon of the Chamber, will be chairmaned by Mr. C. G. "Neal" White, president presi-dent of the chamber, will preside at the meeting. Van Wagenen directed the affair as program chairman. The first industries in Sugar House in all the west 100 or Y-"" 'v more years ago were the sugar beet factory, the paper mill, which provided the Deseret News with newsprint, the old grist mill, the bucket, churn, tub and barrel factory, fac-tory, a woolen and carding plant, a glass button factory, an iron factory, a chemical and powder works and leather tannery, a nail factory, and a cotton gin. All these took their industrial power from historical Parley's Creek. Today these pioneers will be C. G. "Neal" White erage Co., VaLora Candy, Spudnut Shop, Fritz Haertel, N. Each manufacturer will be given the opportunity to report on his firms business. Displays from all manufacturers will be viewed during dur-ing the luncheon. A color film, "Project For People" on the Colorado River storage project will be shown. |
