Show HIGH PRICES RATED AT STOCK SHOW Future Farmer and- 4-H club youngsters sold their animals for a grand total of $156,516.18 at the Intermountain Junior Fat Stock Show at North Salt Lake last week. The show was the largest in a number of years and prices were very good in view of the lower market this year, Show Manager Merrill Parkin said. In addition to the sales money, the 450 youths shared approximately approxi-mately $3000 in premium money. Fourteen purple ribbon lambs brought the best money compared with last year. They went for $1.25 a pound after a slow start. Eleven purple ribbon steers and heifers sold for prices ranging from 52 to 73 cents a pound. The 10 purple ribbon hogs brought 50 cents a pound across the board. Altogether, the 333 show cattle brought $106,704.84, or an average of $320.44 per head. The 163 show sheep brought $6256.39 or $38.38 per head. And the 147 show hogs grought $8137.16 or $55.35 Last year on a much higher livestock live-stock market, show stock auctioned auc-tioned for a grand total of $181,-598.44. $181,-598.44. One of the highlights of the show was the bidding of one blue ribbon lamb up to $4.95 a pound. |
