Show Plant Blast Kills Worker Wrecks Room A lethal explosion reportedly caused from a faulty motor and gas in the curing oven of Wasatch Meat Co. took the life of the father of three children Tuesday, at 6:29 p. m. in Sugar House. Thomas K. Broadbent, 39, 2085 Keller Ln, was killed instantly when he was crushed between a brick wall and the curing oven of the meat company smokehouse, 1202 E. 21st So. N. B. Geis, 51, 1169 Milton Ave., electrical contractor, who was working with Broadbent on a faulty electric fan, escaped with singed hair and eyebrows although al-though the terrific force of the explosion tore out roofing near his head and split walls around him. Broadbent, found lying in a pool of blood by Geis and Cliff Smith, who were working in a near by business. He was moved from the wreckage by the two men and Inken to a hospital by ambulance where he was pronounced dead on arrival. |
