Show Musical To Be Featured By Granite Arts Association The Philharmonic Piano Quartet which will appear at Granite High School auditorium on 3305 South 5th East on Tuesday, November 27, at 8:15 P.M. . . under the auspices of the Granite Arts Assoc. . . . has won top favor with the press and public of the United States and Canada from coast to coast. This all-American group of brilliant, attractive artists, each a piano virtuoso in his or her own right, has captivated the country. In especially prepared colorfully varied programs their forty fabulous fab-ulous fingers at four pianos range through a repertoire which include classics and light music, arrangements arrange-ments of moderns and masters. The Philharmonic Piano Quartet consists of Ada Kopetz, Moreland Kortkamp, Emmett Vokes and Herbert Rogers. All pianists received re-ceived their training in this country; all have given successful individual concerts and all studied at the Juilliard School of Music. The foursome recorded two albums for Columbia Masterworks, one entitled en-titled "Music for Four Pianos" and the other "Popular Classics for Four Pianos." In the words of the New York Times, they are a "virtuoso ensemble." Another critic termed their programs "musical entertainment at its best." The official musical arranger for the Quartet is Moritz Bomhard, at present director of the Kentucky Opera Association in Louisville and of a successful TV opera series tnere. At present, ne is aiso in charge of the production of the contemporary operas commissioned and performed under terms of the recent large Ford Foundation Grant to the Louisville Orchestra. He was formerly conductor of the Princeton University Orchestra and Glee Club, and director of New Lyric Stages. In addition to his arrangements for the Quartet, Mr. Bomhard is a composer in his own right, having to his credit two symphonies, a suite for strings, several sonatas and the score to a Sean O'Casey play, "Red Roses for Me," which was given at the Huston Playhouse. The Quartet travels by car, and their four Baldwin grand pianos precede them for each concert via private truck. |
