Show Editorial . . . There is nothing sacred about a Two-party system of government. Many times in the history of our country parties and persons have arisen in opposition to the policies and practices expressed by the major groups. Sometimes the opposition has arisen over tactics used to push some candidate into the race. This is the case this time here in our own state. It is so easy to elect the wrong candidate. And many Utahn's feel that the wrong candidates are representing rep-resenting both the Democrat and Republican parties. Therefore, this election is not going to be decided by the standpatters in either party. The outcome will hinge" upon the displeased elements of both parties: those who are disgusted with' the Watkins tactics which put his protege in the race, those who are displeased with the Utah Educational Educa-tional Association's methods of urging teachers to take Republican ballots and vote for Mr. Clyde, and those who disliked the resulting squeeze-out of Mr. Boyden. In addition, ad-dition, there is the independent vote. Many of them do not care now to support the elected party candidate. It is what these groups do that will decide the outcome of Utah's three-way race. |
