Show SONS OF UTAH PIONEERS ELECT 2 SUGAR HOUSE MEN Two Sugar House men were elected to posts in the national Sons of Utah Pioneers organization organiza-tion at the annual encampment, held this year at the Old Mill in Big Cottonwood canyon, it was announced by Fred E. H. Curtis, past president and chairman of the nominating committee. Richard A. Lambert was named president of the SUP for the ensuing en-suing year, while Horace A. Morgan, Sr. of Salt Lake, Dr. Joel R. Ricks and Lawrence Law-rence Mallan of Logan and Edward Perkins of Los Angeles. All these men are vice presidents. The board as elected will appoint all other officers. The group lunched Saturday at Alpine Rose Lodge in Brighton and spent the afternoon on the ski lift, hiking or viewing historical histori-cal movies. Highlight of the meet was the banquet Saturday evening when life membership pins were awarded new members and Dr. Walter A. Patricia Piper won the first place solid gold pendant for her story, "George Wlarren Shirrine." Second place silver pendant went to Ann Wilkins for "The Whig. Marilyn Woolley copped third place and won a bronze pendant for her story "Everybody's Friend." Fourth and fifth place winners were Paul Ballantyne Crookston for his "An Indian Scare," and Carolyn Bennion for her "Charles Crawford, Pioneer." Ernest R. McKay is the outgoing president. |
