Show DAKCE AFFAIRS mm e ilOLLIDAY The "Skylarks," a six-man band of young musicians who are rapidly rapid-ly buliding a reputation for providing pro-viding dancable music, sweet or hot, had rafters ringing at the East Mill Creek gym Saturday night at the second of a series of Olympus summer dances. Leading off the evening's program pro-gram with an hour and a half lesson in basic jitterbug steps were James Gamble and Fred Kendell. Assisting was Jeanene Taylor, Olympus graduate, who will be joined this week by Ruthall Wat-kins, Wat-kins, also a recent Olympus grad. The Misses Taylor and Watkins were also cheer leaders at the . school and members of the Dance club. During intermission at 9:30 while members of the band took their places, refreshments of pink lemonade and cupcakes were spread on the large table at the edge qf the dance floor to renew energy for the two hours of band music ahead. Gifts by courtesy of Auerbach's i were given Mrs. L. R. Eschler to winners of the party games and to holders of the lucky numbers in the door prize drawings. C. Biesele, secretary; Mrs. Eschler, dance committee chairman; Mrs. Louis Bagley, member of the dance committee and president of C!ympus high Parent-Teacher Association. Last week plans for the subsequent subse-quent Saturday night dances were taken over by an enthusiastic group of teenagers themselves. They included the Misses Taylor and Watkins, Jerry Whitehead, Ann Boyack, Kent Bagley, Steve Walton, Charles Biesele, Gary Blake, Steve Shaw, Helen Aldred, Dale Lay Elaine Michaelson, Steve Eschler and Byron Dansie. As a word of reminder, the dance session begins at 8 p.m. Saturdays and the place is the East Mill Creek gym. Volunteers to assist in planning the coming dances will be welcomed wel-comed by members of the dance commitee Mrs. Biesele said. |
