Show Jamboree Lure to Scoutdom An eager contingent of South Salt Lake Boy and Girl Scouts are anticipating the international scout jamboree slated for early August in Canada. Location of the annual scout event of the year is Niagara-on-the-Lake, Ontario, where scouts from the world over will congregate congre-gate for week-long festivities. By chartered bus and under the tutlege of Mr. and Mrs. Merlin Shaw and Mr. and Mrs. Kenneth Sheffield, scout executives, 76 scouts will leave far in advance of the jamboree date. Driving the southern route the group will tour the Gulf of Mexico and Atlantic seaboards, studying the - way of life in the old south, visiting historic his-toric and scenic points of interest. Each night during the tour the party will camp out at national and state parks along the route, preparing their meals to lessen the individual cost of the trip, Shaw sad. On the eastern coast the itinerary itiner-ary includes the national capital, ' Civil war battlefields, sites of early colonization such as Jamestown, Plymouth Rock and Salem. One of the culminating events of the continental trip will be attendance attend-ance of the LDS church pageant in Palmyra, N. Y., at the Hill of Cummorah. On the way home the scout party will follow the "Old Mormon Train" again stopping at tourist centers. The entire trip will take from three to four weeks, it was said. |
