Show RANGERS HONOR J. R. CLARK ON BIRTHDAY President J. Reuben Clark Jr., second counselor in the first presidency presi-dency of the LDS church, was special guest and honoree Wednesday Wednes-day evening at an outstanding horse show presented by the fa- mous Ute Rangers. The Rangers presented the special spe-cial show honoring Elder Clark on his 84th birthday, and in recognition rec-ognition of his "contribution to fine livestock raising." President Clark has a ranch in Grantsville. The show, which was by invitation, invita-tion, was presented in the typical expert style for which the Ute Rangers are known nationally. In ful costume, the approximately 60 members performed drills, square dances and other western horse fetes for the occasion. Lyle Larsen is president of the group. President Clark, known as a lover of horses and livestock, has earned a reputation for himself also in the political world. He is former ambassador to Mexico, and has long been recognized as one of the world's outstanding international inter-national lawyers. Among his high positions in government service includes in-cludes solicitor for the United States department of state, undersecretary under-secretary of state. His family will entertain at a buffet supper Thursday evening in his honor. |
