Sorensen, President of The National Society of Sons of Utah Pioneers, was guest speaker speak-er in Los Angeles. President of National SUP Is California Guest Speaker Mr. H. A. Sorensen, president of the National Society of Sons of Utah Pioneers, was guest speaker at the tenth anniversary of the California Sons of Utah Pioneers in Los Angeles, Friday evening, Nov. 30th. Mr. Sorensen was presented with beautifully prepared resolutions in memory of the distinguished Mormon Battalion. Mr. John F. Howells, Jr., president presi-dent of the California SUP, gave a report on the Fort Moore Memorial which has been a joint effort of the Daughters and Sons of Utah Pioneers. Mr. Edward B. Perkins, of the Advisory Board of the Los Angeles Chapter, designed and presented to Mr. Sorensen, a beautiful ring. The ring, proudly worn by Mr. Sorensen, is designed with "Chief Washike" engraved on one side, the profile of Brigham Young on the other side, and in the center is "the covered wagons" entering the valley, while "SUP" is engraved on the top. Two volumes of "The History of the Church in Calif.," were presented pre-sented to Mr. Sorensen for the National Na-tional Society by the author, Leo J. Muir, secretary of the California group. Prior to returning home, Mr. Sorensen flew to Bakersfield to inspect in-spect a village The Kearn Company is sponsoring. He was a guest of the curator, Mr. Bailey. Accompanying him on the flying week-end trip were Mrs. Sorensen and their son and daughter-in-law, Mr. and Mrs. Maynard Sorensen. The four-some flew in their private plane. |
