Show Mormon Pioneer Village GALA PREVIEW OF HISTORIC TREASURES SET NOVEMBER 13 The public this week was invited to its first official view of what someday will be the great Mormon Pioneer Village in Sugar House park on the old state penitentiary site. The preview will be held Friday, November 13, at 2990 Connor street, where Horace A. Sorensen has assembled a rich collection of authentic pioneer relics which cover a three acre plot even now. Rapid strides have been made during the past year to collect and assemble historical buildings, including one of Brigham Young's old homes and grist mill; pioneer furniture, wagons, carts and farm implements; railroad equipment and statues, books, clothing, fire arms and household utensils, Sorensen said, and they have been arranged in a display for November 13, on a hard-surfaced acreage. A special program, featuring Utah pioneers, civic and church dignitaries, leaders in business and professional life and many public spirited citizens will be held. The chairman of the great project said his committee, named to handle the many facets such a program calls for, will be published in The News Bulletin in the near future. |
