Show MAESTRO, RADIO VOICE TALK TO ROTABIAHS Rotarians of Sugar House were 1 entertained last Thursday by two( very different personalities. Maurice Abravanel, director of the music for the U of U summer festival, and Gordon Owen, fireside fire-side humorist from KALL shared the spotlight on a program arranged ar-ranged by Norval Gallacher. Like a good 'stranger within our gates', Maestro Abravanel highly praised the climate. He said he must work much harder in the New York City climate to accomplish ac-complish the same amount of work done here, because in the eastern city he used a great amount of energy just fighting the heat. Utah's cool nights permit him to rehearse hours longer without becoming be-coming fatigued, he said. According to Abravanel, the summer festival held in the U stadium is unique in the whole country, because of its mixture of amateur and professional talent. tal-ent. He calls it a "genuine community com-munity activity with a liberal amount of professionalism." The noted conductor of the Utah state symphony cites the local production of Faust, which he insists was a superior performance perform-ance to the one he worked on at the Metropolitan opera. .
